Wings are clearly central to this story. The “black wings” graphic image of an actual Naval pilot badge was use in the interior for the title pages and then reflected with two motif pieces.
The chapter heading motif--I was able to retain this graphic in the ebook editions..
The author used three asterisks to break up the narrative when she needed to indicate a passage of time. This little wings graphic did the trick. It, too, was retained in the ebooks
