Entering the Blue Stone was special because of its personal nature and because it is for one of my publishing company clients, a woman I know and respect greatly. Had to do a great job.

In my initial exploration, I kept coming back to photos or artwork of couples--this is about the author’s mother and father--which caused the author to send me actual family photos. I loved them, and the two below were used on the front and back covers.

The mottled background came from an adaptation of the background on a stock-art painting--it was my client’s idea to do something like it in blue, and it worked nicely, giving the feel of a, well, blue stone.
